The 2nd COM-IT Expo 2008 International Exhibition & Conference on Computers, IT products & Services and Software was held in Mumbai this year from 20th to 23rd November at the MMRDA Exhibition Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

The Objectives of COM-IT Expo 2008 was to create a platform for the industry to address the audience on new products, brand awareness, enter the market, appoint new dealers / distributors, networking opportunity and also meet end consumers.

The two-day conference that started from November 21st saw over 300 delegates attending it. The theme for this year’s conference “Synergies 2008 – “the IT Managers Guide to Effective IT Solutions” for Enterprise and SME / SMB’s and “Channel Vision 2008” for the Channel Community. Over 19 speakers shared their experiences while 80 + exhibitors ‘showcased’ their achievements and expertise during the show.

    •   ABOUT THE EVENT...
COM-IT Expo 2008 - International Exhibition & Conference on Computers, IT products & Services and Software was held at the MMRDA Exhibition Grounds in Mumbai. Industry Participants exhibited their products and services in this well managed grand event.

Participants from different market sections – Over 109 brands participated in the exhibition in an area of 1500 square meters of net exhibit space, set up in a near international facility at the MMRDA Exhibition grounds. As a first, we had Microsoft as Diamond Sponsor and CA as the Silver Sponsor.

Prominent pavilions were set up by AOC, Asus, Logitech, and Microsoft, and prominent displays from Canon, Genius, HP, Intel and Samsung.

Other majors who marked their presence were: Acer, AMD, APC, Chirag PC, Cisco, Edimax, Escan, Enjay, Freedom9, Intex, Kodak, Kaspersky, MX, Pearltek,  Hitachi, HIS, Pinnacle, Quickheal, Reliance Communications, Smart Signals, Sparkle, Tata Indicom, Trendnet, Tally, Seagate, Verbatim, Xerox, TVS, Zion, Zen, , amongst the many others.

TAIT had put in all efforts to go out to address all cross sections of audience viz the IT channels, Enterprise, SME/SMB’s. Soho and computer enthusiasts with a cross section of above the line and below the line activities encompassing, hoardings, radio, newspaper ads, specialized media ads, direct mail of invitation cards, bus-back banners, …..but the most important activity that generated the footfalls into the event was the personal effort of all TAIT committee members who sent out email and sms invites to their list of clients and customers accompanied by the word-of-mouth publicity which cannot be matched by any media.

Over 30,000 excited visitors thronged the exhibition over a span of four days from a wide cross section of target audience. Pleasant surprise was the visits from the IT channels from Goa, Surat, Pune, Chennai and Baroda besides the full strength from Mumbai.

Media houses with special focus on the Computer and IT industry also exhibited their publications.

"The first two days was largely attended by corporate customers who had come to participate in the seminars on Genuine Software, Intel’s innovations, Enhancing Protections through Recovery, Storage Trends, Network Security, Information Security & Security management, and Infrastructure Management. The third day was for channel partners. We had seminars on Changing Face of Indian IT Channels, Surviving Slowdown, IT Vision 2010, Resurgence of New Age System Integrator, Methods of Money Making during Recession Times, as well as presentations from the industry. As expected, the fourth day turned out to be the end-user's day.”

The excitement continued for the visitors by hourly lucky dip prizes of IT products where over 300 gifts ranging from software, anti-virus, t-shirts, peripherals, networking products, calling cards, software training program, webcams, bags et al kept the visitors attention. Highlight was a super lucky draw where a Intel Dot Station and HP All-in-one printers by the exhibitors.

Awards for the best pavilion, most aesthetic display and outstanding products display were given away to exhibitors by the TAIT.

received the award for the best pavilion while AOC bagged the award for the best decorated stall and GENIUS won an award for their aesthetic product display. A consolation award was also given to Alantic HK Ltd. – a joint venture of for the most innovative product display.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Vipul Sant, Director Microsoft and Mr. Moninder Jain, Director Asia Pacific. Other dignitaries from the industry present at the lamp lighting ceremony were Zia Saquib, Director C-DAC, Mr. Mohit Anand, Country Manager, Belkin, Mr. Rajesh Khurana, Country Manager, Seagate, Mr. Kerman Rana, Director Asia Pacific, Netgear, Mr. Jignesh Upadhyaya, Consulting Manager, CA, as well as the senior officials of TAIT.

The Conference, this year, was conducted over two days. The Conference covered related topics both Plenary as well as technical insights and was well appreciated by the participating delegates.

In all, 19 Experts shared their expertise and experience at the Conference. Current Status, Projections, Latest Technologies, Equipments and Services were some of the points of focus in the presentations made by these experts.

Day One
